“We are sad to announce we are legally separating,” the actors shared. “We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his
This civil separation announcement comes as a surprise to the couple’s millions of fans.
“I know it’s ridiculous to care about a relationship involving two people you’ve never met,” wrote Brandon Katz in response to Pratt’s post. “I know it’s crazy how much society today value celebrities and their lives. But I honestly am saddened to hear this just because they seemed so perfect for each other.”
More than 20,000 people agreed with Katz’s sentiments. In response to Faris’ post, Twitterer @jurassic_rachel replied, “It’s official, love isn’t real, I’m not even going to try.”

More than 30,000 people responded to Pratt’s post and more than 3,500 to Faris’, many posting gifs of people crying in disbelief.

Obviously a lot of people are going to have a hard time getting over this split. Perhaps the only way to get through this is through grace of GIFs.
It’s worth noting that Pratt and Faris met on the set of the 2007 film Take Me Home Tonight, where the pair played a newly engaged couple.
The movie’s Rotten Tomatoes critical consensus reads, “It has a charming sweetness about it, but Take Me Home Tonight is neither funny nor original enough to live up to the comedies it evokes.”
With that stirring critique and seeing as how the movie fell $11.5 million short of their budget at the box office, we’ll assume you didn’t see the movie.
Spoiler alert: In the movie, the couple didn’t fare any better than they did in real life, and Chris Pratt’s character, Kyle, ends up breaking down and crying.
Yeah, we can relate.
