Christian Parchman is a 6-year-old boy with leukemia. Christian is a tough kid and has been fighting his disease bravely. Recently he was honored with an incredible surprise. He was invited to an event and was serenaded with a very special song that was written specifically for him. The song featured his name and some of his favorite things. The song was created by the Songs of Love Foundation and was sung to Christian by 1,500 college students. Everyone was incredibly moved by the experience and several students can be seen wiping away tears as they sing to Christian.
Songs of Love Foundation
The Songs of Love Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing personalized uplifting songs, free of charge, for children and teens currently facing tough medical, physical or emotional challenges. As of January, 2016, Songs of Love has provided songs to more than 26,000 children. Each CD is professionally produced with lyrics containing the child’s name and references to all of his or her favorite people, activities, pets, and things. Talented professionals write and perform the songs in the musical style that the child likes best.
In this video, you can watch as Christian hears his new song for the very first time and is presented with a CD. He gets to hear the song being sung by more than 1,500 college students and seems a little overwhelmed to be at the center of so much attention. However, he said that he really liked the song and it made him feel happy, especially the part about his favorite dog, Boomer. What a great gift for such an amazing and inspirational little boy.
