Celebrities are subject to some of the worst rumors there are, whether they’re true or not, and there have been some interesting ones over the years. Have you ever believed any on this list?
It’s no secret that many people have an unhealthy obsessions with their favorite celebrities, especially when it comes to gossip. However, at a certain point, talk about who’s dating who and who’s wearing what doesn’t seem to be enough anymore, and fans take it upon themselves to spice things up. From alien abductions to fake pregnancies and clonings, here are some of the craziest rumors to ever make their way through Hollywood.
Beyoncé Was Never Pregnant
Right after giving birth to daughter Blue Ivy Carter, Beyoncé’s body didn’t seem to look much different than it did pre-pregnancy, which is probably where the rumor that she was never pregnant began.
There was some confusion among media and fans when the singer mentioned that her daughter would be born in one month and then changed it to another. At one point, fans also claim that they saw Beyoncé’s stomach essentially fold over onto itself, making them believe she was wearing a fake belly.
The story eventually became that the singer used a surrogate to have her first daughter, and that she’s most certainly not pregnant with twins now.
Harry Styles Had a Presidential Affair
It was once rumored that Beyoncé herself had an affair with President Barack Obama while he was in office, but apparently one rumor wasn’t enough, so someone came up with another.
As equal-opportunity gossipers, they decided to ponder about who Obama would choose to be with if he had an affair with a man, and somehow Harry Styles from One Direction was the chosen one.
In fact, the rumor stated that is was actually Styles who decided to approach the former president, despite the fact that his celebrity status could’ve gotten him any girl he wanted. A newspaper even went as far as to publish the rumor as a front-page story, and it should come as no surprise to any normal person that Styles was quite surprised to see it.
“I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about,” he told the paper. “I’ve heard some good ones in my time, but that’s interesting.”
Britney Spears Was Cloned
Back in the day when Britney Spears was still an item with Justin Timberlake, the couple got into a car accident while they were in Los Angeles. There were apparently many people who believed Spears was decapitated during the crash; they were very surprised, then, to see her back in the world a short time later.
The only obvious explanation to them was that Spears had been cloned and her duplicate was introduced to the world—after all, she just completed the recording of her first album and was promoting a new music video, so someone needed to be there for the show to go on and the money wheel to keep spinning.
As the theory goes, Spears’ managers plucked a random girl out of the mall with the intent of her essentially becoming Britney Spears to keep her fandom alive. Not only do people think this really happened, but they also think her team left clues behind, such as the cloning center scenes in her music video for “Break The Ice.”
Gene Simmons Has A Cow Tongue
Anyone who’s ever seen Gene Simmons is well aware that he has one of the biggest tongues that has probably ever existed, and there are those among us who can’t accept the fact that it might just be that way naturally.
After all, celebrities need to have something that sets them apart from the rest to stay relevant, so it seemed pretty clear to some people that he would have this type of surgical procedure done so he’d have his own gimmick as a musician.
It makes sense that his would be mouth-related when you consider that the name of his band is KISS, but it’s clear when you take a look at it that he just has an abnormally-long but natural tongue.
Sure, it is a massive seven inches long, but a cow’s tongue is bound to be way larger and also way meatier than that. Not to mention that cow tongues often have a lot of black coloring, which Simmons’ definitely doesn’t.
Justin Bieber Has Died Before
If you’ve never heard this rumor surrounding Justin Bieber, get ready, because it’s one that’s just as funny as it is kind of pathetic. One day, Bieber somehow stayed off of his Twitter account for a full 14 hours, which is apparently very unlike him if you ask one of Beliebers.
Instead of assuming that he, you know, might just be busy doing the type of things worldwide celebrities might do in a day, his fans automatically came to the conclusion that he must have died. Thankfully, Bieber was there to set the record straight on Twitter.
Sometime in 2016, another rumor claimed that Bieber had died in a car accident that he caused by driving at speeds of at least 95. Though this rumor was obviously not true, there was actually was a Justin Bieber lookalike who died that same year due to an overdose.
Angelina Jolie Dated Her Brother
In her early career days, there were a lot of things about Angelina Jolie that many people considered to be fairly abnormal—wearing a vial of Billy Bob Thornton’s blood, anyone?—and her relationship with her brother was definitely one of them.
In 2000, Jolie and her brother shared a pretty passionate kiss during a red carpet walk, and it still would’ve been a little strange even without the passion. Her brother only made matters worse when he was asked about his love life during an interview and responded with, “I’m so close to Angie it’s like I’ve already got the perfect woman in my life and it’s hard for anyone else to live up to that.”
Naturally, fans began to assume that not even someone related to Jolie could resist her charms, and that her own brother had fallen for her like so many other men had. It has often been rumored that Jolie had previously done some pretty crazy stuff between the sheets, so many people didn’t think the rumor was too out-there.
Of course, neither Jolie or her brother ever admitted to having more than a super-close relationship, so let’s just hope they didn’t.
Walt Disney is Frozen
If you remember hearing this rumor at some point during your childhood and actually believed it for a certain portion of your life, we want you to know that you’re not alone.
In 1966, Disney passed away from lung cancer when he was just 65 years old and, as one producer explained, the many people who worked with Disney during his life came up with a way to keep his memory alive that was actually kind of hilarious to them.
They settled upon Disney being cryogenically frozen and stored somewhere underneath the Disneyland theme park, just waiting to be brought back to life when the time was right, perhaps when his creative genius was needed most.
Strangely, it’s kind of a nice thought, but it’s one that will definitely never happen because Disney’s family has already confirmed that he was definitely not frozen—all we’re saying, though, is that this is totally what someone’s family would say if they didn’t want the world to know their relative was cryogenically frozen.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson Weren’t Really Dating
After meeting on the set of Twilight, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson began a whirlwind romance that made all of the fans of the series weak in the knees.
However, there are many out there who instantly assumed the romance began for one purpose and one purpose only: as a publicity stunt intended to suck fans even more by solidifying the idea of the Edward and Bella romance.
Though the stories were already pretty popular on their own, we can’t say that the relationship, real or not, didn’t have at least some sort of effect on the movies’ popularity—Stewart once commented on how desperately people wanted their two favorite characters to be together, saying, “People wanted me and Rob to be together so badly that our relationship was made into a product.”
Though the rumor was put to rest not long after it began, it’s one that you can see why it was started.
