If you haven’t heard, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers is retiring from professional basketball at the end of the season. However, he reportedly had the opportunity to extend his playing career one more year. FC Barcelona made an offer to the five-time NBA Champion last season to play overseas at the conclusion of his NBA career—an offer that Bryant refused. Kobe, who spent a great deal of his childhood in Europe would have had the opportunity to compete exclusively in high level Euroleague games. It is reported that Bryant was unsure if he would be able to ensure a clean bill of health throughout the entirety of the Euroleague season; which is why he elected to decline the offer.
