Running a farm is hard work, and no one knows that more than a farmer’s child. They see their dad work hard from dawn until dusk, and the kids also have to pitch in before and after school.

These children of farmers quickly learn to do what needs to be done without asking why. There’s not enough time in the day to get the work done and explain why every chore has to be done.

Kolt Kyler is one such farmer’s son. The 9-year-old gets tired sometimes, but he always does what he’s asked to do to help out.

In between work on the farm, school, and bedtime, Kolt can be found planted in front of the television, cheering on his favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs. Sometimes the games go late and he has to set the DVR to record the rest, but he always finishes them up the next day.

Kolt cheers on the whole squad, but his favorite players are first-baseman Anthony Rizzo and shortstop Addison Russell. Watching the games is a great way to escape the monotony of Pierceton, Indiana and connect with the rest of the country.

Kolt’s father Andy recently surprised his son with the gift of a lifetime for the young man. While his mom took a video, Andy asked Kolt a very serious question. He said, “This is something here that you and I are going to do and it’s going to take a whole day to do it. Do you want to do it?”

Without hesitation, Kolt nodded yes. Andy jokingly said that Kolt doesn’t even know what he’s agreeing to. Kolt was undeterred and said he was sure he wanted to do it.

Andy then handed Kolt an envelope and told him to open it carefully. As Kolt was about to rip the envelope apart, Andy grabbed it away and delicately took out the contents. When Kolt saw that the surprise was tickets to a Cubs game, he jumped up and down and hugged his dad.

Above is the video of the heartwarming moment. As you can see, Kolt laughed at first but soon started sobbing.

He was unembarrassed as he showed the tickets to a game at Wrigley Field to the camera. He continued sobbing and repeatedly hugged his dad. It was the most earnest sign of appreciation we’ve ever seen.

Now Kolt’s story has gone viral. The young man has appeared on ESPN and local news. No one can get enough of this hardworking young man and his heartfelt manner.

The boy’s sister is a big reason why the story has gone viral. She posted the video to Twitter, setting off a frenzy of weeping parents. While siblings often have a rivalry, Hannah has nothing but good things to say about her brother.

She told Yahoo, “His work ethic is amazing. He’s been carrying around a bat, ball, and glove since he could walk.” Finally, he’ll get to go see the home of his beloved Cubs. No one deserves it more.
