One kilogram of gold is worth about $40,000.

This valuable hunk of gold is the size of a large bar of soap. One kilogram is about 2.2 pounds, or about the weight of two cans of pasta sauce.

What do you do with a $40,000 bar of gold?

When you run a YouTube channel with more than a quarter of a million subscribers called “Crushit,” well, you crush that bar of gold with your hydraulic press!

Baird Mint generously loaned the YouTube video makers this pricey piece of metal.

You can almost imagine a stuffy old guy wearing white gloves standing just off camera as they put this hunk of gold under the force of their 100 ton hydraulic press.

As they crush the gold, it almost looks like it’s melting.

Gold is extremely malleable and can be stretched and folded and molded into almost any shape or size.

After pressing, the press head leaves it’s impression on the gold.

In the video you can see one tiny flake of gold come off the piece. The stuffy guy in the white gloves almost definitely weighed the bar when Crushit returned the gold.

Crushit likes to put other things in its hydraulic press, too.

They’ve crushed rubber duckies, paintballs, batteries, coins, helmets, cans of deodorant, and even lighters.
