Presidential hopeful Donald Trump has waged a vicious and misogynistic war on Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly over the past year. While Kelly has been nothing but professional, calm, and polite, Trump has thrown barbed and archaic comments at Kelly that have had the nation tweeting on overdrive.
In the past, Fox has been overly anxious to maintain good relations with Trump and his large supporter base. However with criticism mounting against Fox’s refusal to stand behind their popular female anchor, they have finally released a statement that is extremely supportive, following Trump’s latest tweet purge about how “crazy Megyn Kelly” has been attacking him on her show on Fox.
The company released a statement mid-March that reads, “Donald Trump’s vitriolic attacks against Megyn Kelly and his extreme, sick obsession with her is beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate who wants to occupy the highest office in the land.”
Not known for its feminine bent, Fox News went further in defense of Kelly.
“Megyn is an exemplary journalist and one of the leading anchors in America—we’re extremely proud of her phenomenal work and continue to fully support her throughout every day of Trump’s endless barrage of crude and sexist verbal assaults,” the statement said. “As the mother of three young children, with a successful law career, and the second highest rated show in cable news, it’s especially deplorable for her to be repeatedly abused just for doing her job.”
Trump was quick to retaliate on Twitter and is now claiming that Kelly’s ratings are high due to her continued negative Trump news stories. Besides tweets about Kelly’s appearance and menstrual cycle, Trump has also suggested she is crazy and average.
If crazy @megynkelly didn’t cover me so much on her terrible show, her ratings would totally tank. She is so average in so many ways!

So the highly overrated anchor, @megynkelly, is allowed to constantly say bad things about me on her show, but I can’t fight back? Wrong!
