There’s nothing more attractive than a beautiful smile. It’s one of the first things people see about us and it immediately draws people in. It’s also something many people look for in their potential partners.
Part of that beautiful smile is having bright, white teeth. Unfortunately, not all of us can afford professional teeth whitening at the dentist, or want the harsh chemicals in home whitening strips on our teeth. If that sounds like you, there are easy, inexpensive ways to whiten your teeth at home. Here are just a few natural ways to make your teeth really shine.
1) Strawberry and Sea Salt
Mixing crushed up strawberries and sea salt will remove stubborn stains from your teeth. Just make sure that the strawberries are as fresh as possible.
To whiten your teeth, crush the strawberry and mix it with the fine sea salt. Then take that mixture and grind it down to a paste. Rub that paste on your teeth and let it sit for a few minutes. After that, rinse your teeth. Doing this every two weeks will whiten your teeth and protect your enamel.
2) Lemon
Lemons are chock full of nutrients, making them one of the healthiest fruits available. It’s also known for getting things clean, hence all the lemon-scented cleaning products. That can apply to your teeth, as well.
Take three parts lemon juice (squeezed directly from the lemon) and one part fine sea salt. Rinse your mouth with this mixture, ensuring that it runs over your teeth. Do this after you brush your teeth three times a week and you should notice whiter teeth.
3) Basil Leaves
Ground basil leaves can be used to whiten your teeth. All you’ll need are some fresh basil leaves and a food processor.
Grind these basil leaves into a paste and just apply them to your teeth. This paste can actually be used as a toothpaste daily. It will keep your teeth healthy and whiten your teeth.
4) Ground Charcoal
It sounds counterintuitive that applying something so black to your teeth can actually whiten them, but it’s completely true. You can buy activated charcoal tablets and break them open, dumping the ground charcoal into a bowl.
Take that powder and apply it to your teeth. Let it sit for about two minutes before rinsing it off with a new toothbrush used just for charcoal. Be careful because this powder can stain your clothing and your sink.
5) Turmeric and Coconut Oil
Turmeric is a spice in the ginger family used in many Indian foods. It also has a variety of health benefits, including teeth whitening. Just mix some with coconut oil and baking soda and you’ll be shocked at the results.
To make this paste, six four tablespoons of turmeric powder with two tablespoons of baking soda and then add 2 and a half tablespoon of coconut oil. Make sure it’s mixed thoroughly. Use the mixture to brush your teeth for about three minutes. Spit and rinse with water until the water comes out clear. Use this mixture for about a week and you should see a healthy, whiter smile.
