It’s difficult being a teen mother and it’s even harder to become an A-list celebrity. Combine these two things and it’s nearly impossible. Some women, however, have overcome the odds to grow their careers while raising their children at a young age. Here are some celebrities you’ll be shocked to learn were actually teen mothers.
1) Sofia Vergara
This Colombian bombshell actually got married at a young age and had a son at 19. It’s hard to believe, but he is now 24 and she’s 44! She looks absolutely fantastic for a woman in her mid-40s.
She and her first husband divorced in 1993 and Sofia went on to become a very well-known model. She then became a famous Spanish-language actress before breaking through in the United States on Modern Family. That’s impressive in and of itself, but even more impressive when you find out she was raising a son the whole time.
2) Naomi Judd
Before she became a famous singer, Naomi Judd got married young and had her first daughter, Wynonna, at age 18 and her second daughter, Ashley, two years later. When she and her husband divorced, she was left to raise these girls on her own. She worked as a nurse before trying to break through in the world of music.
In 1983, she and Wynonna would form the group The Judds and go on to much critical and commercial success. Her other daughter would go on to have a very successful career as an actress and model. That is one talented family!
3) Roseanne Barr
Roseanne actually had a daughter at age 17. She realized that she couldn’t properly care for the little girl, so she gave her up for adoption. Roseanne would go on to have plenty of success in comedy, both as a stand-up comic and as the star of the television show Roseanne.
Years later, the daughter reached out to her and the two met. They have since rekindled their relationship, with Roseanne making up for lost time.
4) Solange Knowles
The younger sister of Beyonce got married young and had a child at age 18. She and her husband divorced and Solange raised the child as a single parent.
Like her sister, Solange had dreams of breaking into music. That was difficult with a young child, but she never gave up on that dream. That perseverance would pay off when her album A Seat at the Table debuted at number one in 2015. She and Beyonce are actually the first sisters to have number one albums in a single calendar year.
5) Jamie Lynn Spears
The younger sister of Britney Spears got pregnant when she was just 16. At the time, she was working as an actress on a few different Nickelodeon shows. That all changed when she became pregnant.
Since then, she settled down and focused on raising her daughter. She did return to the public spotlight when she released a new album in 2014. Jamie Lynn has been releasing music and performing publicly around Nashville, Tennessee, since then.
