Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are reportedly keeping their French chateau in the family, but that’s not stopping Jolie from setting out on her own. The actress reportedly purchased Cecil B. DeMille’s former estate in Los Angeles for nearly $25 million.
The house has both historical significance and an amazing location. DeMille, who directed The Ten Commandments and dozens of other blockbusters, lived in the house for over 40 years. During that time, he hosted some of Hollywood’s biggest stars in the home.
The homes sits on 2.1 acres of prime real estate. Views of the Pacific Ocean and Griffith Observatory can be had from various spots on the rolling hills. This gorgeous pool is available for when you don’t want to trek down to the ocean.
Jolie recently lost a bid to get full custody of the couple’s six children. While Pitt won partial custody, the children will be able to spend the majority of their time wandering the spacious grounds of their new home.
The inside of the home is as luxurious as you would imagine. The former owners renovated it while keeping most of the original styles. This bedroom has beautiful hardwood floors and a working fireplace to keep in cozy during the chilly winter months.
One of the best features in the room is the large amount of natural sunlight that the many windows let in. A terrace also surrounds the room where Jolie will be able to sip coffee and take in the incredible panoramic view of Los Feliz and the ocean.
As you can tell from the exterior view and the living room, the entire house has plentiful windows. This makes the already large house appear even bigger. It also provides a nice view no matter where you are in the house.
Jolie and Pitt’s six children will have plenty of space to play in the 11,000-square-foot home. They’ll also be closer to their father, who lives in Hollywood. Jolie had originally planned to move to London, but decided against the move in light of the custody decision.
The dining room is elegant, but not overly formal. The entire house shares this style. It looks ready-made for a family to live there in the possible sense.
Hardwood floors are covered with rugs and comfy furniture abound. It’s easy to see why Jolie decided to spend such a large sum of money on the place.
One of our favorite rooms in the house is the library. With floor-to-ceiling shelving, there’s plenty of room for everyone’s favorite books.
The unique shelving requires a rolling ladder to grab books of the high shelves. The room has a great blend of antiquity and comfort. Or to out it another way, it’s perfect for the mother of six who played Lara Croft.
After a hectic year that brought many changes to her life, we hope that Jolie starts a great new chapter of her life in this house. She’ll surely put her own stamp on the place, which will add even more character to the famed mansion. We can’t wait to hear about all the good times that happen there.
