Rebekka and Rylee
Rebekka Garvison and her daughter Rylee were on a 5:30 a.m. flight. Rebekka was stressed about traveling alone with her infant, and the anxiety increased when Rylee started to cry while the plane was taxiing. As her fellow passengers grew more irritated with Rylee’s crying, Rebekka tried to find a solution. She saw two empty seats together and asked the flight attendant if the two could move so she could have more space to tend to Rylee.
Once in the new seat, Rebekka found herself next to a woman named Nyfesha Miller. Rebekka’s distress over Rylee’s disturbance was obvious. She apologized to Nyfesha, but instead of showing scorn, Nyfesha offered Rebekka a helping hand. Nyfesha asked if she could hold Rylee. Rebekka agreed, and to her surprise, Rylee settled right down and went to sleep, while looking out the window.
Nyfesha ended up holding Rylee for the entire flight, and the two slept peacefully together the entire time. Rebekka was full of immense gratitude for the help and comfort offered by this stranger. Nyfesha even held Rylee while the women disembarked from the plane so Rebekka could put Rylee’s stroller and car seat back together without trying to hold the infant while doing so.
After being overwhelmed by the kindness of this stranger, Rebekka posted about her experience on Facebook. Little did she know, the post would go viral. It has been shared more than 100,000 times, proving that kindness really does go a long way.In her post, Rebekka wrote, “Nyfesha Miller, you will never understand how happy this act of kindness has made my family. You could’ve just rolled your eyes and been irritated like everyone else, but you took her and held her the entire flight and let me get some rest and peace of mind. It brought tears to my eyes while I sat there and watched you and Rylee sleeping next to me. I just couldn’t believe how that ended up working out and how caring you were to us. Thank you SO much!! God bless you!!”
